Who we are and why we exist

Environmental consulting built on field experience, not ideology.

Founded in response to a gap

In 2018, a group of environmental scientists in Leeds recognised a persistent problem. Organisations wanted to improve their environmental performance, but the consulting industry was offering either oversimplified solutions or prohibitively expensive programmes designed for multinational corporations.

What was missing was a pragmatic middle ground: rigorous environmental science applied at a scale that made sense for regional businesses, community organisations, and public sector bodies.

What guides our work

Evidence-based decisions

Every recommendation we make is rooted in peer-reviewed research and empirical data from comparable contexts.

Transparency in uncertainty

Environmental science involves complexity and unknowns. We're honest about what we can and cannot predict.

Local ecological knowledge

Generic frameworks fail because ecosystems are place-specific. Our programmes reflect the unique conditions of your site.

Long-term thinking

Environmental impact unfolds over years, not quarters. We design interventions that remain effective as conditions change.

Collaborative team meeting discussing environmental strategies

How we're structured

Rather than maintain a large permanent team, we work with a network of specialists. This means each project is staffed by people with direct expertise in the relevant domain, whether that's urban ecology, industrial waste systems, or carbon accounting.

Our core team coordinates these specialists and ensures consistency in methodology, reporting, and client communication.

All practitioners in our network hold advanced qualifications in environmental science, ecology, or related disciplines, and maintain active involvement in research or field practice.

Where we work

While based in Leeds, we've delivered projects across Yorkshire, the North West, and the East Midlands. Most of our clients are within a two-hour radius, which allows us to conduct thorough site visits and maintain ongoing relationships.

For organisations outside this geography, we offer remote consulting for strategy development, carbon accounting, and policy review.

Our obligation to practice what we advise

We measure and offset our operational carbon emissions annually. Our office in Leeds runs on renewable energy, and we prioritise low-carbon travel methods for site visits.

This isn't about perfectionism. It's about understanding firsthand the challenges and trade-offs that our clients face when implementing environmental programmes.
